چکیده

Methods ECV measurement was by EQ-CMR. The T1 mapping sequence was ShMOLLI. The contrast agent was Gadoterate meglumine (Dotarem) at 0.1mmol/Kg (bolus) plus infusion at 15 minutes at 0.0011 mmol/kg/min. CMR was at 1.5T (Siemens Avanto). ECV was measured in 43 well-controlled hypertensive patients from a specialist tertiary centre (median age 56, range 21 to 78, 55% male) and 50 healthy volunteers (median age 47, range 28 to 69, 58% male). ECV was calculated by ECV = (1-hematocrit) x (1/T1) myo ÷ (1/T1)blood.

EUROPEAN RESPIRATORY UPDATE Update on diffuse parenchymal lung disease

I n recent years, there have been important advances in the understanding of diffuse parenchymal lung diseases, especially in relation to the idiopathic interstitial pneumonias, including idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and nonspecific interstitial pneumonia. Among other diffuse parenchymal lung diseases, the topics of particular interest centred on hypersensitivity pneumonia, parenchymal disease...

Relationship between expansion of the myocardial interstitial space and ventricular performance in patients with pulmonary hypertension

Background Diffuse interstitial fibrosis is a common end point in heart failure from multiple etiologies. The post contrast T1 time, extracellular volume (ECV) and partition coefficient (l) of gadolinium-based contrast media have been used to estimate expansion of myocardial interstitial space, as a surrogate of interstitial fibrosis. The aim of the study was to explore the relationship between...

Pathological characteristics in idiopathic nonspecific interstitial pneumonia with emphysema and pulmonary hypertension

A 75-year-old man was admitted to our hospital complaining of a 4-year history of persistent dry cough and progressive dyspnea on exertion. Chest computed tomography images revealed diffuse reticular opacities and traction bronchiectasis in the bilateral lower lobes and emphysema predominantly in the upper lobes. He was treated with inhaled N-acetylcystein therapy, oral corticosteroids, and pir...

THE DIAGNOSTIC YIELD OF TRANSBRONCHIAL LUNG BIOPSY IN DIFFUSE INFILTRATIVE PULMONARY DISEASES BY PLAIN CUP FORCEPS. A STUDY OF 54 CASES IN IRAN

The technique of transbronchial lung biopsy (TBLB) has expanded the diagnostic yield of bronchoscopy . In this article we are presenting 54 patients with diffuse pulmonary parenchymal involvement who underwent this procedure during six years between June 1980 and December 1989. The diagnostic yield of this technique in diffuse pulmonary parenchymal disease is great and was 66 percent exclu...

Myocardial fibrosis with T1 mapping and right ventricular performance in pulmonary hypertension

Background Pulmonary hypertension (PH) leads to progressive right ventricular (RV) dilatation, hypertrophy, and systolic dysfunction. PH is also associated with the presence of late gadolinium enhancement in the interventricular septum (IVS). Post-contrast T1 mapping is a previously validated non-invasive technique for the quantification of extracellular volume increase as a surrogate of diffus...
